Youtube Roundup: What am I watching?
So, while I make huge essays in my drafts about things that have me randomly heated, I figured I'd make something I actually want to publish. I've been wanting to make a post with some currently interesting youtube links for a while! I watch a lot of youtube, but in the past few months I've cut back a lot, so it's no longer always running in the background. Now, I still watch, but with some much needed intention. Maybe you'll like some of these!

Would giving up screens ACTUALLY make me feel more capable.... by Tessa Violet: This is actually the first video I've ever seen by her, and it's a type of video I always love to see; screentime cutting challenges. Everyone has a bit of a different way they do it, and almost always the outcome is positive. I love her charisma, her bright and casual sense of style, and how she isn't shy or apologetic. Her confidence is a breath of fresh air compared to the usual "guilt for existing in public" I'm often seeing these days.
Defunctland After Dark: The Capital One Bank Guy by Defunctland After Dark: A really funny mini rabbit hole that's a great time if you're looking for just a fun watch. I had a good time.
Wojaks, Soyjaks, and You. | Bad Art History by Frankie Fey: Not only do I absolutely love how both fun and incredibly in-depth this all was, I can attest to seeing a lot of this stuff happen firsthand. A chronically online classic; pay no attention to the 'teens calling it coal.
THE ADHD FIX: The shockingly simple shift that changes everything by The ADHD Love's LATE BLOOMERS podcast: I've been into this podcast for a while, which is funny because I'm usually kinda cringing at the idea of a podcast on principle for no reason other than I'm a cynical, jaded asshole. So, of course the world has a funny way of humbling me, and this podcast has been actually quite healing to listen to. I don't relate about half the time, but the moments that I do feel so comforting and joyful in a way I haven't felt in very long. I'm used to never, ever feeling validated in my thoughts, actions, etc because to most people (that I'm not married to lol or very close with) I'm a burnout weirdo that talks too much, too fast, and is a general mess to deal with. Finding something so popular like this ever be validating more than once is something I think I've needed for a long time. It makes me feel like I'm no longer stuck on the outside. I have to thank the Women's ADHD discord for this one, another place well out of my comfort zone that's been healing me from the inside for a while now. This particular episode addresses the burden of shame that so many of us carry and it holds us back A LOT. I do agree with Rox in the video who says this is the one you should watch/listen to, if you're just doing one. The word "cure" was used to describe this but I don't think that's really the right term, but they use quotes on their usage also so I think they feel the same. The term "fix", however, I can only assume is clickbait to pay the bills.
How to Add Joy & Whimsy Back Into Your Life by Anna Howard: If you read what I blog about it's no secret this is the type of youtube videos I like to watch. Unfortunately, things like this can often get over my head because it's really at the cusp of my mental limits and outside of what I usually have the energy to comprehend. But I do think it's worth a watch anyways because I love the challenge, even if I lose, and I think it's refreshing to have videos on youtube that are actually so full of substance you have to sort of take it in installments to take everything in. That being said, this is a lot about the way we look at children and how that's a bigger reflection of ourselves, not just looking at them as a mirror to our younger selves but as an example of someone who is a complete beginner at nearly all they do, but isn't you know, stupid! How we treat people who have zero experience matters, too, and can often show how we treat ourselves when we're also in that stage. Also, she covers play as a practice you have to put intention into. I'm curious how this could work with ADHD brains.

I think if I add any more it just gets to be so much that it's overwhelming. I really hope you get a chance to check any of these out. As always, I've got an open email and guestbook if you got something to say. I like the idea of kinda "showing off" what I've been watching and writing about it, because I think that gives me a chance to better engage with what media I'm consuming and share my thoughts about stuff that has me thinking. Bye for now!
